Aer Lingus now flying to Sofia from Dublin
Tuesday, November 4th, 2008Bulgarias popularity as a European destination has been recognised by several airlines who have announced new routes to the country. Cheap air fares will hopefully be available as airlines compete for passengers travelling to this holiday hotspot.
Aer Lingus have just announced that they will be operating a twice weekly scheduled service from Dublin to Sofia as of the 28th October. Earlier this year, they opened a route to the popular coastal city of Bourgas, offering Irish tourists a direct flight to the Black sea coast. Prices to Sofia start as low as 27 euros one way.
The city of Varna, situated on the Black Sea Coast is one of the Bulgarian destinations now covered by British Airways. Flights leave from London Gatwick on Saturday, Sunday and Tuesday.
For a low cost alternative to Aer Lingus you could try the Hungarian Wizz Air. Don’t be put off by the name, this airline has increased its service from Bulgaria to the UK. Until now, they have been operating a seasonal service but are now offering a flight every Sunday throughout the year with two flights during the Christmas period. Prices start at £27.79 (one way).
